One type of traditional audio technology used in the classroom is prerecorded audio cassette tapes. I would use them with students who are having difficulty with comprehension of what they are reading as well as reading in general. I would also record myself on blank cassettes reading a test or a quiz out loud. This way, students who have difficulty reading also have someone reading the test for them as they take it. This way I can read it for each of them at their own pace. One type of emerging audio technology is Internet audio. This is very helpful because instead of having to by an entire CD or recording an entire story, a teacher has access to the bits and pieces then need for their lesson. I would use this during PowerPoint's, after so many slides, I would insert a part of a speech, or a song, that relates to the topic and have the students listen to it. This would be helpful because I would not have to search through a CD, or an audiotape to hear the exact clip I want the students to hear.
A type of traditional visual technology is non projected images. These include real objects, models, exhibits, and graphics and photographs. I would most likely use the real objects in the classroom setting. They could bring in any real-world object that can safely be brought into the school. I would use this type of visual technology for science lessons. We could examine different things, conduct tests, form hypothesis's, and even look at some objects with magnifying glasses. It is a safe way for students to visually and physically explore inside of the classroom. One type of emerging visual technology is projected visuals. One example of this is Digital Projectors. Digital projectors can be used to project images, worksheets, and even videos on to a white board or a solid surface. I would use this to project premade questions and problems on to the white board, then have student volunteer to solve them. The premade questions will save time and the students can all work at the same time. I can also project videos for the entire class to view at the same time during a lesson. This is very beneficial as the view of the projected image is much larger than the computer screen.

Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom
I would prefer to teach in a classroom with more digital technology because it benefits the different learning styles of students. For as student who is a hands on learner, it would be beneficial to use a Smartboard, Promethean board, or an ipad because they learn better with the actual touch. Read/write learners can benefit from ebooks as well as data projectors. For those who are Audio learners, speakers and headphones can help them to hear the information while they read it. I would like to teach in a classroom with more technology because I could better benefit my students individual learning styles.

All About Me
My name is Taylor Baumle and I am working towards a Bachelor in Science of Education with the licensure of Intervention Specialty in Mild to Moderate. I attend Bowling Green State University, and I am part of a Education Community called Urban Educators. It is very productive and I get to spend a lot of time in the classroom observing and participating.

9/21/2011 Copywrite Presentation
Last night, my roommate came in at 1. The reason behind this late night activity? She had to present this morning with two other girls on our floor for our Intro to Education Technology. We walked together to class this morning and got there 10 minutes early. I was surprised as it got close to the beginning of class that there were so few people present. Slowly, they trickled in after class began. The class began with Katie, Jacquia, and Kayla, setting up their PowerPoint at the front of the class.
Then, they passed out a quiz for us to fill out to recognize how little we know about Copyright laws. It was an eye opener to me as they continued their presentation. Did you know that "Happy Birthday" is copyrighted? I sure didn't. It made me really aware of citations and how much of documents and clips to use for our own presentation. I thought they did a really good job with the information.
Next, Thompson's T.A. taught us how to use blog spot. It was interesting and so I continued it outside of class. I am really looking forward to next weeks classes. Mrs. Thompson said that we will be working on the ATC test and will break it down piece by piece. I am nervous about that test because if you get 40 out of 50 you drop a letter grade. x_x
